Social Science and Humanities https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh
The Social Science and Humanities focuses on the applications of social science and humanities theories and methodologies in topics related to the livelihood and welfare of humans. In particular, it examines how social science and humanities can be applied to help create positive changes and improvements in the well-being of consumers, employees, collectives, and society.

The journal welcomes all approaches (empirical, analytical, or conceptual) that create or extend theory as well as qualitative methods (e.g. case studies) are welcome.

SSH covers, but is not limited to:

Business and Management
Operations Research, Decision Sciences
Geography Planning and Development
Tourism & Hospitality
Transportation
Public Health
Anthropology
Communication and media studies
Criminology
Economics
Industrial relations
Political science and international relations
Law
Library science
Philosophy
Population Studies
Sociology
Social welfare
en-US Fri, 01 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0000 OJS 3.3.0.8 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 The impact of climate on rice yield https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/17
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of climate on rice yields in the Giola region. The study was conducted at a research farm in Sangere, Adamawayola, during the 2014 rainy season (June 3 to October 7, 2014). The experimental farm is designed based on the Random Complete Block Design (RCBD) system. Three kinds of selected rice; Nerica L20, Faro 44 and ITA 206 were planted, repeated and measured 3 times. Daily climate data is collected from the weather station of Modibo Adama University of Science and Technology. It was found that the change of rice yield parameters was very significant at P=0.01. Only in terms of yield and grain weight per field (g), Nerica L20 had the highest yield per field, while ITA 206 was in the study area. The comprehensive influence of climate on rice yield is found that the minimum and maximum temperature are very significant at P=0.01, while the sun is significant at P=0.05. Relative humidity and rainfall are also significant, P=0.01. In this regard, the cultivation of Nerica L20 in the study area should be encouraged. It should be encouraged to further study other factors affecting rice growth and yield in the study area, especially genotyping and soil influence.
Bornali Owino Copyright (c) 2021 https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/17 Fri, 08 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of the predictive factors of adolescent mobile phone addiction https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/19
This study aims to investigate whether loneliness and self-esteem are predictors of smartphone addiction. In the ongoing relationship survey model, 300 high school students from the Kayseri region selected by random sampling participated in the study. Research data obtained through questionable mobile phone use scale, self-esteem scale and Euklar loneliness scale. In the data analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis technique were used. As a result of data analysis, it was found that loneliness and selfesteem accounted for 15% of the total variables related to smartphone addiction in adolescents, and loneliness was identified as a strong predictor. Research has found that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between loneliness and self-esteem. It is believed that the research results obtained will provide a path for research on young people.
Mahboobeh Yeganegi, İnan Ghehi Copyright (c) 2021 https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/19 Wed, 20 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0000 African writers and the necessity of using multiple languages https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/20
Contemporary African writers who write in English face the special problem of expressing their feelings, experiences and worldview in English other than English. In order to maintain the authentic quality and authenticity of the character’s language and inner passion, African writers must be “free” in their native language and English. As a product of a multi-lingual, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment, he embodies the privilege of belonging to two different cultural worlds in his works. His cultural composition enables him to make invaluable contributions to the development of the English language and the development of a broad-minded, global character.
Ahmad Zubaidi Copyright (c) 2021 https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/20 Fri, 22 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0000 Integrity: People and Money https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/21
Integrity is an intangible factor that can achieve or destroy human beings through monetary means. It is the key to this direct observational study conducted by students with the help of their instructors. Observational research is a qualitative research method that uses researchers (directly and/or indirectly) to participate in a situation to measure and determine which factors are important to the result as evidence and should be emphasized. The student initially participated as a respondent, but in the process became a researcher (and observer) investigating a certain situation or part of the research. At the same time, observers use ethnographic observational research methods, in which all thoughts and opinions are recorded verbatim, with slight modifications in grammar and structure. The result is a clear and heartfelt observation that can be transformed into more quantitative future research as a continuation of current research. In order to further clarify the overall concept, the results are tabulated to further emphasize the importance of integrity to people and money. Using motivating factors and the newly created ID scale based on motivating factors, we can ”see” and experience changes in the relationship.
Ahmed Ali Copyright (c) 2021 https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/21 Fri, 22 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0000 Analytical Level of Discourse Analysis https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/22
With the transition from structuralism to post-structuralism and semiotics, discourse analysis has covered almost all the schools of critical theory that have emerged since the late 1950s. Discourse refers to the use of language in context (1) (Cook, 1989, p. 29). The new method was first applied by Zellig Harris to the analysis of certain advertisements (1953), namely the language twins related to the consumer society. It connects text to use, text to the world, because the goal is to induce certain types of behaviors and reactions. Discourse analysis studies every act of speech, every utterance, from interjections to three stories (three volumes of a Victorian novel). It studies language in a threedimensional framework: (1) a worldview (cognitive value) integrated into knowledge, ideology and text, (2) social relations constructed through language, and (3) a form of ”specific worldview” The connection of features is based on “constructing the coherence of the text (2) (Levarato 2003: 13). Our paper examines the first two levels of discourse value, which constitute the discourse content relative to the discourse form.
H Sonny Ali Copyright (c) 2021 https://currentscience.info/index.php/ssh/article/view/22 Mon, 25 Oct 2021 00:00:00 +0000
