Abstract

Contemporary African writers who write in English face the special problem of expressing their feelings, experiences and worldview in English other than English. In order to maintain the authentic quality and authenticity of the character’s language and inner passion, African writers must be “free” in their native language and English. As a product of a multi-lingual, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment, he embodies the privilege of belonging to two different cultural worlds in his works. His cultural composition enables him to make invaluable contributions to the development of the English language and the development of a broad-minded, global character.
