Abstract

This study aims to investigate whether loneliness and self-esteem are predictors of smartphone addiction. In the ongoing relationship survey model, 300 high school students from the Kayseri region selected by random sampling participated in the study. Research data obtained through questionable mobile phone use scale, self-esteem scale and Euklar loneliness scale. In the data analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis technique were used. As a result of data analysis, it was found that loneliness and selfesteem accounted for 15% of the total variables related to smartphone addiction in adolescents, and loneliness was identified as a strong predictor. Research has found that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between loneliness and self-esteem. It is believed that the research results obtained will provide a path for research on young people.
