Research Hotspots and Trends in the Prevention and Treatment of Postpartum Hemorrhage: Based on Bibliometric Analysis from 2015 to 2025

Objective This study aims to analyze the current situation, research progress and trends in development of postpartum hemorrhage prevention and treatment in the past decade through bibliometrics.

Methods Web of Science Core Collection was used to collect keywords including postpartum hemorrhage, prevention and treatment from January 1, 2015 to April 28, 2025. The core data such as the number of published papers, authors, journals, institutions, countries, keywords and burst words in the data were calculated. The results were statistically analyzed and displayed in a visual form.

Results A total of 467 articles were included. The overall number of published articles showed a fluctuating upward trend. The author with the largest number of articles was Sentilhes, Loic, who had close collaborations with other authors. The institution with the largest number of articles was the World Health Organization, and the United States was the country that produced the largest number of articles. There is an obvious imbalance of scientific research information in the field of postpartum hemorrhage prevention and treatment between developed and underdeveloped countries The analysis of keywords and burst words indicated that the main future research hotspots and trends might be the management of the third stage of labor and the multidisciplinary medicalized management of the entire pregnancy cycle for high-risk groups of placenta accreta.

Conclusion In this study, we innovatively used visualization software and data information mining to conduct bibliometric analysis of articles in the field of Postpartum Hemorrhage prevention and treatment. With the increasing rate of cesarean section year by year, and the improvement and accuracy of diagnostic methods, multi-discipline and full-cycle management for economically backward areas and high-risk groups of placenta accreta are the future development direction of postpartum hemorrhage prevention and treatment.
